Our city newspaper reported that police took a 14-year old boy into custody when he shoplifted a case of soda pop in his backpack. In checking his backpack, they found a cashew can full of marijuana. In the custody of the police, he admitted he had the drugs in his bag, but said they belonged to a friend. The teen then made things worse for himself by giving the police the wrong name. He gave in when he realized his father couldn't pick him up without the right name.
At Missio Lux we've been talking a lot about the importance of walking in our true identity as God's loved children. What a great reminder this story is about how we'd better get our identity, including our name, straight if we ever want to get free and go home.
